Cruisin’ the Caribbean

Just one week ago, Trina and I were having an amazingly great time on a Royal Caribbean cruise!  Even though we left on it about a week after we were married, it was not our honeymoon.  We’ll be taking that at some point in 2009!  This was a cruise we had been looking forward to for over a year!  It was a destination wedding photography seminar and photo shoots cruise that was organized by massively talented destination wedding photographers Gino & Heather Lucadamo of Story by Photo.  Besides shooting destination weddings, they are both also heavily involved in wedding photography training and education through Digital Wedding Pro.

On board the week long cruise, Gino taught a group of us from all across the U.S. advanced seminars on shooting, marketing, post processing, etc. I already knew that Gino was a great wedding photographer. I found out that he’s also a really great, no BS, teacher. It’s amazing how much I learned from this one seminar! Besides the seminar, he and Heather were both involved in setting up photo shoots on board the ship and at two of our ports!  They did a fantastic job!  I would definitely have to say that the cruise was a huge success.

We shot brides and grooms in both San Juan, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas.  There was no shoot scheduled for the island of St. Maarten so Trina and I took off on our own and had some nice quiet time together at at Dawn Beach, a short cab ride and a whole world away from the touristy beach where our ship was docked.

As you can probably tell, this blog post is pretty much all about the destination wedding shoots that we did. I’ll have to start working on a separate blog post about the fun that Trina and I had with all of our new bestest Phoenix friends…Gino and Heather, Jake and Michaela (one of the couples from our shoots) and Jedd and Casi (of Blake Slade Photography)!

Here are just a few of my favorites from the images that I shot at these beautiful destinations.  The first was shot on board the ship, the rest were shot in either San Juan or St. Thomas.
