Samantha’s Pasadena Shoot – The Photo Montage

I promised more pictures from last weekends shoot, so here they are! Samantha was really great! We got a lot of fun pictures, and had a blast shooting them!

I have to thank Zack Arias from the One Light Workshops, and Gino Lucadamo for his DVDs on Off-Camera Flash! Working with light is one of the many things that every photographer should always be learning more about, and pushing boundaries with. Thanks to Gino and Zack, I’m still furthering my education and pushing those boundaries!

Pasadena Shoot with Samantha

I’ve really been wanting to play with a new flash that I got not too long ago (it’s a Sunpak 120J for all of you photo gear nuts). Yesterday, my friend Samantha was willing to run around Pasadena a bit while I photographed her. She was a great model, and we had a lot of fun! We even switched off for a few shots, but I wasn’t nearly as good as a model as she was. I’ll be posting some more of the shots from her shoot soon, but here’s a sneak peak! Thanks Samantha!!

One Light Workshop – Finally!

Zack Arias is a great photographer! That’s not just my opinion, that’s many people’s opinion. He mostly shoots musicians, and he’s known for his amazing use of light. See you for yourself at www.zackarias.com. For quite a while now I’ve been waiting for his One Light Workshop to come to somewhere in Southern California. This past week, Zack and his workshop hit San Diego…and so did I!

It was a fantastic one-day workshop on the use of a single light! We started at 9:30 in the morning and went past midnight! Thanks Zack! You are an inspirational photographer. I had a great time, and soaked in a lot of amazing info and techniques. As an added bonus, I got to meet a lot of other really nice, talented, fun photographers who were also taking the workshop! I hope to make it down to San Diego again soon to shoot with some of you. Here are some of my images from the day…

Back From WPPI

The Wedding & Portrait Photographer’s International (WPPI) convention in Las Vegas was great! What was so great about it? Well for one, Trina and I got to meet a lot of really talented photographers who are also great people (like Ral & Danelle of Rad Studio). There were some great speakers as well. My favorite?? Jerry Ghionis! His talk was very inspirational, and watching him actually shoot a bride (even a model pretending to be a bride) is always a treat!

My other favorite part of WPPI? Seeing the amazing new products that I’ll be offering for covers to wedding albums!! They are BEA-YOU-TEE-FUL! Trina and I both fell instantly in love with the new etched metal covers! Fantastic!! There was also the incredible metallic print covers! Wow! …and that’s just the beginning of what we saw! WOW! Feel free to ask me about them!!

The other highlight that has to be mentioned…dinner at N9NE Steakhouse at The Palms! The steaks were superb and the lobster mashed potatoes were, well, lobster mashed potatoes!!! Hmm, and just like that…I’m hungry!

It was a great trip, but it’s good to be home! Having our tail-wagging puppy greet us at the door on our return made the trip complete! My next trip to Vegas will probably be a completely different experience. It will probably in September for my Bachelor Party! I’d promise Trina that I’ll be a good boy on that trip, but I don’t have to. She already knows.

WPPI Convention in Vegas, baby!

Back from the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) convention in Vegas! It was a great experience! I got to meet a bunch of the people from the Digital Wedding Chat forum! They were seriously the nicest bunch of people you could get a bit sloppy drunk with! I think everyone woke with a bit of a hangover the next day..and it was definitely worth it!

I also went to seminars given by many of the industry’s top wedding photographers. I particularly liked Jerry Ghionis’ seminar. His before and after shots were eye opening! After seeing his presentation, how can you help but look at a room you’re about to shoot differently? I picked up a set of his picpockets. I’m still going through them, but the word that comes to mind…inspirational!

My next big adventure is scheduled for this Friday! Unfortunately, it’s not photogrpahy related; I’m going in for hernia surgery. Wish me luck!
