Trina and I loved shooting Brittany and Al’s beach wedding, so needless to say we were thrilled when they asked to shoot their new baby girl, Hayden! She was such a cutie!! We had such a great time, and I’d like to think Hayden did too! Thank you Hayden for being such a wonderfully cute, and mostly cooperative baby! Here’s a sneak peek at your images…
A spontaneous road trip to Vegas happened on Thursday, July 2nd. It started with Trina and I having dinner with another couple at The Bowery on Sunset. Someone suggested “Why don’t we got to Vegas?” So at about 11:15pm we hit the road. We had fun, we gambled, we won, then we lost, and we napped at what turned out to be a scuzzy little hotel (proving once again, you get what you pay for). At about 3:30 the next afternoon, we jumped in the car and started the drive home. It hadn’t even been 18 hours since “Why don’t we go to Las Vegas” had first been uttered. It hadn’t been the “The Hangover” trip we’d first envisioned. No one got lost, no cars were destroyed, no gay Chinese mafia guys attacked us, and no one married a stripper. It was much more like the movie “Swingers,” but without any Dorothies. Still, it was a seriously great trip…until…
The ride home had been all about stopping at the Bun Boy! The Bun Boy is an historic diner that has been a traditional part of any Vegas roadtrip for decades. It lies in Baker, California at the perfect desert stopping point between Vegas and Los Angeles. Well, it USED TO lie there. Now granted, it’s probably been almost a decade since I’ve done the drive to Vegas from Los Angeles. Not that I haven’t been to Vegas in that time. I’ve made plenty of Vegas trips in the 2000′s (the aughts? the double ohs??) I had just chosen to make donations to Southwest Airlines on these trips and save the wear and tear on my car…and my body. The four hour drive back to L.A. after a Vegas weekend, can feel like 48 hours of Guantanamo Bay style torture. At least from what I learned by watching “Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanemo Bay“.
Anyway, I digress. The point is BUN BOY IS GONE! It’s been replaced by a Bob’s Big Boy! Apparently this happened a few years ago. So how come nobody told me??? It was sad, not to the level of being tragic, but very sad. Still, I managed to choke down a delicious strawberry milk shake, take a picture I ended up really liking, and climb back into the car to continue our voyage home. Yep, it was great trip, but I’ll miss you Bun Boy.

Wendy - Hey Steve, I could have told you that coming home is never as fun as it is on the way there. I should tell you about our adventure one night to laughlin on one of those "hey lets go to vegas!" trips...July 13, 2009 - 6:39 pm
When Edith and Israel said they wanted to do their engagement session at Kenneth Hahn Park, I immediately said…what’s that? It turns out it’s a huge park just off La Cienega Boulevard with ponds, and bridges, and views, and hiking trails, and more! What a great place for a picnic, or to propose to the gal you love – and that’s exactly what Israel had done. It turns out this was the place where Israel proposed to Edith! Apparently she said yes.
It was a great shoot, and Trina and I really enjoyed getting to know Edith and Israel! We’re definitely looking forward to shooting their wedding in August!
Trina and I had a great time photographing Wendy and Eric’s wedding! We seem to always get to work for the nicest couples, and Wendy and Eric were definitely no exception! Thanks Wendy and Eric for being a fantastic couple to work with! Their ceremony was at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Arcadia, and their reception was at the Sheraton Pasadena Hotel. As something different, I’ve decided to try posting a Vimeo slideshow of some highlights of their wedding. Enjoy (if this works)!
Yesterday Trina and I had the priviledge of shooting an amazing wedding for a great couple! Kelley and Dan were one of the most relaxed Brides and Grooms I’ve ever seen on a wedding day! They really seemed to be enjoying the entire day! Their friends and family were so obviously full of love for Kelley and Dan, and really went out of their way to make Trina and I feel welcome! Thank you Kelley and Dan’s friends and family!
Both the ceremony and reception were at Middle Ranch in Lake View Terrace, and both were just beautiful! Lina and her team from A Stunning Affair, did a fantastic job of keeping things moving smoothly, creating a beautiful event, and making sure there was no stress to be found. Lina was the epitome of what couples hire coordinators for! Jason Daniel Productions handled the video for Kelley and Dan’s wedding. To see the highlights video that Jason has already put together, go here!
Thanks so much Kelley and Dan! Trina and I wish you many, many years of happiness!! Here is a look at just a few of my favorites from the day!
Jackie Combs - Hi Steve,
I never got the chance to meet you during Kelley and Dan's wedding but I want to thank you for taking such beautiful shots of the flowers and decor that my team and I created for Kelley and Dan. They are such great people and were so much fun to be around. I can't wait to see more pictures from this amazing wedding!
Warmest wishes,
